Here are some frequently asked questions. If you don't find your question or answers here, please send me an e-mail.
Q. I have more than one manuscript I'd like to submit. Can I submit them at the same time?
A. We welcome your submissions, however, please do not send more than one story at a time.
We would prefer that you do not send us a submission you have already sent to another publishing house if it is still under review.
Q. What size are your print books and is it POD (Print On Demand)?
A. For our full length novels our trim size is 6"x9" black and white inside, with a glossy full color cover.
Our books can be ordered through www.amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com and any other major book store chain. They are NOT available on book store shelves but they can be marked returnable which means any bookstore or library can order them. They are at this time printed as they are ordered or as demanded.
Q. Why an electronic book?
A. Electronical publishing is the wave of the future. In today's world, everything from music to movies are available to be downloaded and the same is now true for books.
Our full length novels (over 40,000 words) are also available in print.
Electronic versions of our stories are less expensive compared to print and are available immediately for download once you purchase a title.
Our parntership with SONY, NOOK, iPAD, and KINDLE ensures that our books are available to be read using either one of these eBook Readers. Our pdf's can also be downloaded to your computer and read directly from your screen.
Q. Do you accept submissions from unpublished writers?
A. Absolutely. We are as excited to hear from new authors as we are from multipublished authors. We believe that everyone should have the chance if their story is publishable.
Q. Will I be expected to promote and advertise my book?
A. We actively promote the books we publish. An author is highly encouraged to actively promote their work as well. We encourage authors to join social networks, writing guilds and organizations, blog sites, etc... Through a joint effort we will all be successful.
Q. Do you provide copyright?
A. No, we do not. The author retains ownership of the book and it is your responsibility to apply for copyright. We will provide you with the "proof" you'll need for filing and assist you as we are able.
We do, however, place a copyright notice in all works. According to www.copyright.gov, "Your work is under copyright protection the moment it is created and fixed in a tangible form that it is perceptible either directly or with the aid of a machine or device." It is your option if you wish to pursue an official registration of your work.
We do register all print books with the Library of Congress and send them a print copy of your book and the control number is printed inside the front cover by the ISBN number.
Q. Do I have to provide an ISBN number?
A. No. World Castle Publishing will assign ISBNs once the book is scheduled for release.
Q. Do you accept previously published works?
A. Yes, we do. It is the author's responsibility to provide us with a letter of reversion of rights before a contract can be offered.
All authors who have been previously published, including self publishing, must provide proof that the rights to that story have been returned to them. If the book is self published, the book must not be available for sale on any web site including the author's own.
Any author who violates this will have thier work immediatley removed from World Castle Publishing's inventory.
Any book that has been published somewhere else will still have to be reviewed for publication by our editorial staff. It is not automatically assumed that we will publish a book simply because another house has published it in the past. A new book cover will also be required.
Q. Does World Castle Publishing charge fees to authors?
A. No. World Castle Publishing does not charge its authors for anything including cover art, or editorial services.
We will set the book up in print. However, due to the high fees associated with print the book may only be available through our website and Amazon in the beginning. Once an author has sold at least 50 ebook copies then the publisher will be willing to pay the advanced fees associated with further distribution. Author may petition publisher to release on Advanced Distribution.
Q. In what formats do you publish?
A. We publish all our titles in various electronic formats, including but not limited to PDF, .mobi, .lit, epub, and PDB. Print versions of titles are determined by length. All titles that are equal to or greater than 40,000 words will go to print.
Q. Are you a subsidy publisher?
A. No. World Castle Publishing pays its authors royalties on a quarterly basis. We are considered a small press.
Q. I've submitted my manuscript. How long does it take?
A. Please allow a 6 week turn around time. If you haven't heard from us within 6 weeks, please feel free to contact us on the status.
